Averill House
Built in 1840, Averill House sleeps up to 6 people. It has been completely renovated but we have preserved the original character of the house. This spacious, airy house features a large updated kitchen with the original 1932 cabinets, two full baths, off street parking, a huge yard, and 2 bedrooms and a first floor library with a full-sized sofa bed. The downstairs full bathroom features the original clawfoot bathtub, the upstairs full bathroom has a walk-in shower with bench seat. There is a washer & dryer on the first floor for guests to use.
The two upstairs bedrooms are roomy, one with a king bed an the other with a queen. The king bedroom has a 50" smart TV. The dining room seats 6 people comfortably.
A large front sun porch offers additional room for hanging out, and a side porch features comfortable wicker furniture for your morning coffee break. There is a patio with a table that seats five plus a gas grill and a large fenced in yard. The house offers vintage charm plus all the conveniences of today in a beautiful setting. Directly across the street from one of our other Airbnb's, 1886 Cottage, perfect for large families looking to stay close to each other.
This house is convenient to many local amenities, and is walking distance to South Avenue. It's a few doors down from Abundance Co-op, a natural and organic grocery store and steps away from coffee shops, restaurants, bars, and retail stores on South Avenue.
The Kitchen
The kitchen at Averill House features a five burner ceramic cooktop stove and a double bowl stainless steel sink. The salvaged maple floor was refinished in 2022. The kitchen has a white mini subway tile back splash and honed black granite salvaged counter tops. The original kitchen cabinetry, installed in 1932, has been preserved an offers loads of storage space for the well-stocked kitchen.
Floating shelves in the kitchen were fashioned from salvaged barn wood. We have a Cuisinart drip coffee maker that brews with traditional ground coffee and filters or can accommodate K-cups. There is also a French press, an electric coffee grinder, and a manual burr grinder. We stock the kitchen with a variety of coffees (ground and whole bean) and teas. The kitchen is stocked with flatware and utensils, a full set of knives, dinner and sandwich plates and bowls. There is a full set of stainless steel cookware plus Pyrex bakeware and mixing bowls. There is a crock pot, a hand mixer, and an immersion blender. Our selection of glassware includes a variety of glass sizes plus stemware.
Living Room & Dining Room
The living room at Averill House features comfortable furniture and several ottomans for additional seating. There is a 50" smart Roku television. There is a Bose Connect sound system with two speakers, in the dining room and the living room. There are a variety of board games on the shelves in the library, right off the dining room.
The dining room features white linen draperies and antique furnishings. The dining room table is set up to comfortably seat 6 people. There are additional table cloths in the antique oak buffet in the dining room, and additional serving pieces in the buffet.
Bedrooms
Bedroom 1 features a king-sized bed, a large closet, fabric privacy blinds, hardwood floors and a flat screen tv with digital antennae. The bedding includes a down alternative comforter and ultra-soft microfiber sheets and extra pillows.
Bedroom 2 features Eastlake furnishings, a large closet, fabric privacy blinds, hardwood floors and an upholstered love seat. The queen sized bed features a down alternative comforter and ultra-soft microfiber sheets.
The library on the first floor features a leather sofa that converts to a full-sized bed, there is a closet for storage. There is a work station and laser printer. There is bedding stored in the ottoman and in the closet.
Bathrooms
There is a full bath on the first floor which features an original clawfoot bathtub and pedestal sink. The walls are tiled in mini white subway tile and the floor has traditional gray hexagonal tile. Plush white bath and hand towels are provided.
There is a full bath on the second floor which features marble tiled walls, decorative octagonal floor tiles, a salvaged vanity and an antique medicine cabinet. The 48" walk-in shower features a tiled bench for seating. We provide you with two hair dryers, body wash, hand soap, and shampoo.
Extra towels and wash cloths are stored in the linen closet in the upstairs hallway.
