House Rules

  • CHECK IN / CHECK OUT Registered guests must check in via text or phone call upon arrival and check out via text or phone call at the time of vacating the property. You will receive the door lock code for the digital deadbolt upon texting to check in.

  • EXTRA GUESTS / VISITORS Registered guests may have friends & family over to the house to visit. The maximum number of additional friends & family members allowed is 5 people. More than this number is considered to be a party or special event and is not allowed without prior permission from hosts. No additional overnight guests who are not registered may stay overnight at the house. Visitors may not bring pets into the house.

  • PARKING Please pull your cars all the way to the back of the driveway against the fence. Use the driveway for parking up to three cars side by side in this area. You can park additional cars two cars wide behind these if needed. Please do not block the sidewalk at any time and do not use or block the neighbor’s driveway. Extra parking is available in the parking lot of Historic Houseparts if arrangements are made for this prior to your arrival. Street parking is plentiful also, please be mindful of alternate side parking rules as cars parked on the wrong side will be ticketed.

  • SHOES Please remove your shoes in the vestibule, no shoes are allowed in the house.

  • SMOKING No smoking or vaping inside Hamilton House. Smoking is allowed on the front and back porch, please use the ashcans provided to extinguish cigarettes. If evidence of smoking is found after you vacate the property, extra cleaning fees to remove odors and stains may be applied.

  • NOISE Local noise ordinance goes into effect at 10 PM so please keep any noise down beginning at this time out of consideration for our neighbors.

  • PETS No pets are allowed in Hamilton House.

  • DISHWASHER Please wash your dishes after use. If dirty dishes are left, extra cleaning fees will apply. You can load the dishwasher at the end of your stay and start it up, we are happy to unload it after you’ve gone. Dishwasher pods are provided and located under the kitchen sink.

  • HOUSE ACCESS Registered guests have full access to all rooms in Hamilton House including the laundry room in basement. We have a locked area of the basement which is used for storage which we respectfully request guests do not access.

  • CANDLES Candles are allowed in first floor rooms only. The only candles allowed are jar candles, no tapers please. Please use coasters under jar candles that are low.

  • GRILLING There is a gas grill on the back patio for guest’s use. Please clean the grill and utensils after using them. If the grill or utensils are left dirty, an extra cleaning fee may be required. The gas tank is left as a courtesy, it may need to be refilled as we do not monitor it. There is a Sunoco APlus on South Clinton where you can get a refill. Please refrain from moving grill to a different location. Grills are not allowed on the front or back porch.

  • FOOD Food such as condiments or snacks left behind by previous guests may be left in the house. It is up to the guests' discretion to decide whether to consume these items. Please remove any leftovers or opened containers of food when you vacate the property.

  • LAUNDRY Washer and dryer, ironing board and iron are located in the laundry room in the basement. These are for guest’s use only. Laundry detergent is provided as a courtesy. Clean the lint filter before and after running the dryer please.

  • TOWELS Dirty towels and wash cloths should be thrown into the laundry chute inside the upstairs hallway closet when you vacate the property. Please do not leave any wet towels on wood furniture, floors, doors, or railings. Damp towels can be stored on the hooks and towel racks in the bathroom to dry, or on the hooks located in each bedroom closet. If you are staying for an extended period of time, you can wash your towels in the laundry room in the basement.

  • HEAT/AC We use a smart thermostat which regulates energy use in the house. You may turn the heat to your desired temperature but the system will automatically turn the heat down at 11:00 PM and back up at 8:00 AM. Please contact us if you would like the schedule changed on this. Window air conditioning units are available upon request for the bedrooms.

  • TRASH Please empty the trash when you vacate the house. Bagged trash goes into the green trash toters located in the driveway. Trash and recycling pickup is done on Thursday mornings.

  • RECYCLING We request you recycle clean glass, paper/cardboard, metal and plastic waste into the blue toters placed around the house for your convenience. Our city uses single stream recycling so you do not need to sort different types of waste. There is a large blue toter in the driveway to empty the smaller collection containers into.

  • FURNITURE Please do not rearrange our furniture or drag furniture across the wooden floors. Please use the coasters provided throughout the house when setting glasses or hot dishes or mugs on the furniture. Please instruct children on these rules and be mindful of their interactions with the antique furniture to avoid damage.

  • DINING ROOM The dining room table has extra leaves available, these are stored in the closet in the foyer. Extra chairs for the dining room table are available, please contact us for access to these. Please use placemats and table cloths when dining (these are in the buffet) and do not set glasses or hot dishes on the bare wood surfaces without a coaster or trivet, located on the dining room buffet.

  • PARTIES / SPECIAL EVENTS A party or special event is defined as when an additional 6 or more people who are not registered guests of the house are invited over to the house. Please contact us before hosting a party or special event at Hamilton House. If guests are found to have had a party without host permission guests will be responsible for extra cleaning charges. If parties or special events result in complaints from our neighbors, guests will be asked to vacate the property immediately.

  • DAMAGE If you break or damage something, please let us know immediately and arrange for its replacement or repair. Damage to the house itself or any furniture will be repaired by our staff at a service charge of $50 per hour.

  • SECURITY Please secure your belongings by locking the doors and keeping windows closed and locked at night. Use common sense and keep cars locked and any belongings within them concealed. We do have one security camera in use on the warehouse next to the property which has a viewing range that includes the front porch and back yard of Hamilton House. There are no security cameras inside the house.

  • HOST / OWNER ACCESS We, or our staff, may need to access the property during your stay to do laundry, service or repair things, or get items out of the storage area in the basement. We will let you know via text in advance of this.

  • DRUGS If guests are suspected of carrying and/or using illegal drugs, the authorities will be engaged, and guests will be asked to vacate the property immediately.

  • FINALLY, because this is a home and not a hotel, please be respectful of the property and our belongings and clean up before you leave.
